MLB: Seattle 6, New York Yankees 2

NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Kevin Millwood earned his first win in his seventh start Sunday, firing seven strong innings in Seattle's 6-2 victory over the New York Yankees.

Millwood (1-4) notched his initial victory as a Mariner after the 16-year veteran signed a minor-league contract with Seattle in January.

The right-hander yielded one run on three hits, overcoming four walks and striking out six as the Mariners avoided a three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium.

Casper Wells went 2-for-4 with a two run-homer and a run-scoring single while Justin Smoak added a two-run shot in the victory.

The game marked the return of Andy Pettitte (0-1) to the Yankees, following his 2010 retirement. The left-hander was touched for four runs on seven hits in a 6 1/3-inning effort, during which he yielded three walks and struck out two.

Robinson Cano and Russell Martin drove in runs for the Yankees.
