HOUSTON, May 6 (UPI) -- Tyler Greene went 3-for-3 with a pair of homers and four RBI Sunday, backing Adam Wainwright's strong start in the St. Louis Cardinals' 8-1 rout of Houston.
Greene's RBI double in the second inning put the Cards ahead 2-0 and his two-run homer in the fourth extended the St. Louis lead to 6-0.
The second baseman wasn't done, however, adding a solo shot in the eighth to cap the Cardinals' 11-hit attack.
Wainwright (2-3) surrendered only one run on seven hits over seven innings, issuing one walk while striking out seven as National League Central-leading St. Louis avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Astros.
Allen Craig added a two-run blast and an RBI double in the victory.
Houston starter J.A. Happ (2-2) was tagged for six runs (five earned) on six hits before being yanked after five innings.
