MLB: Cleveland 6, Chicago White Sox 3

CHICAGO, May 2 (UPI) -- Jack Hannahan doubled in the tiebreaking run in the eighth Wednesday, propelling Cleveland past the Chicago White Sox 6-3.

Carlos Santana's three-run homer in the fifth gave the Indians a 3-1 lead, but the White Sox tied it in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run single from Alexei Ramirez.

It was still a 3-3 game in the eighth when Michael Brantley delivered a two-out single off Will Ohman (0-1), advanced to second on a walk to Casey Kotchman and scored on Hannahan's double to left.

Travis Hafner extended the Cleveland lead with a two-run homer in the ninth.

Joe Smith (1-0) collected the win by working the seventh inning in relief of Josh Tomlin Smith walked one, but struck out the side.

Chris Perez was perfect in the ninth while grabbing his eighth save.

The White Sox have lost six of their last eight after winning four in a row.
