MLB: Chicago Cubs 5, Philadelphia 1

PHILADELPHIA, April 29 (UPI) -- Matt Garza dominated the Phillies on one hit over seven innings Sunday, staking the Chicago Cubs to a 5-1 win over Philadelphia.

Garza (2-1) turned in a brilliant performance, yielding only a lead-off single to Jimmy Rollins and then setting down 19 straight batters before being lifted after his seventh shutout frame.

The Cubs left-hander walked only one and struck out 10, tossing 68 of his 103 pitches for strikes while handing Chicago its second win in three games against the Phillies at Wrigley Field.

Joe Mather knocked a solo homer, Starlin Castro drove in a pair of runs and Jeff Baker went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Chicago.

Kyle Kendrick (0-2) took the loss for the Phillies despite striking out seven over six innings.
