The Oakland starter received long ball support from Yoenis Cespedes, who hit a three-run shot in the first, and Jonny Gomes, who had a solo blast in the sixth.

Oakland has won two of the first three contests in the four-game series.

Ervin Santana (0-3) gave up four runs on seven hits to take the loss. The Angels, who were expected to be a major factor in the American League this year, have gotten off to a 4-8 start and are in last place in the AL West.

The only Los Angeles runner to reach second base was Erick Aybar, who had a ground-rule double in the eighth.
