MLB: Cleveland 11, Kansas City 9 (10 inn.)

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 14 (UPI) -- Shin-Soo Choo's double in the 10th inning Saturday boosted the Cleveland Indians past Kansas City 11-9 in a game marred by bench-clearing incidents.

Choo's decisive hit -- a rip to left field off of Greg Holland (0-1) -- salvaged a victory for the Indians, who had earlier blown a seven-run lead.

He was also involved in the third-inning controversy after being hit by a pitch delivered by Kansas City's Jonathan Sanchez. Choo yelled at Sanchez, provoking players to come off the benches.

The benches emptied again in the bottom of the frame when Indians starter Jeanmar Gomez hit Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas with a pitch.

Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits and an RBI while Jason Kipnis belted a two-run homer for the Indians, who clinched their three-game series with the win.

Jairo Asencio (1-1) was credited with the victory thanks to a scoreless ninth inning while Chris Perez picked up his second save for the Tribe.
