MLB: Milwaukee 2, Chicago Cubs 1

CHICAGO, April 11 (UPI) -- Yovani Gallardo and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Wednesday and Milwaukee continued its dominance of the Chicago Cubs with a 2-1 win.

Gallardo (1-1) limited Chicago to one run on five hits over seven innings while issuing a pair of walks and striking out six, bouncing back from a loss against St. Louis in his first start of season.

Francisco Rodriguez tossed a scoreless eighth inning and John Axford struck out the side in the ninth for his second save, handing the Brewers their 10th win in 12 meetings with the Cubs.

Milwaukee was trailing 1-0 until the seventh, when George Kottaras blasted a pitch from Ryan Dempster (0-1) deep into the right field stands with a man aboard.

Dempster yielded just the two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 frames.

Starlin Castro got the only RBI for Chicago, which lost for the fifth time in six games to start the season.
