BARCELONA, Spain, April 11 (UPI) -- Simona Halep posted a second-round upset Wednesday of fourth-seeded Roberta Vinci at the Barcelona Ladies Open tennis tournament in Spain.

Halep had five service breaks in a 6-1, 6-3 win over Vinci. Vinci held serve to open the match but Halep ran off the next six games for the first set.

She won the final three games of the second to advance to the tournament quarterfinals. Halep faced just one break point in the match and won about two-thirds of the points on serve.

Halep had company in claiming upset wins. Only one of the four seeded players on Wednesday's schedule was able to advance. That was No. 7 Sara Errani, who was very sharp in a 6-0, 6-2 second-round winner over Estrella Cabeza Candela. Errani cashed in six of her seven break-point opportunities.

Also in the second round, Carla Suarez Navarro defeated Petra Cetkovska 6-2, 6-4. She won 62 percent of the points off Cetkovska's serve.

Sorana Cirstea advanced out of the first round when No. 8-seeded Polona Hercog retired. Cirstea won the first set 6-4 but Hercog then retired from the match.
