MLB: New York Yankees 6, Baltimore 2

BALTIMORE, April 9 (UPI) -- Derek Jeter went 4-for-4 with an RBI and Andruw Jones homered Monday to help the New York Yankees take their first win of the year, 6-2 over Baltimore.

Jeter's RBI double capped a three-run fourth inning for New York, which posted its initial victory after opening the season by dropping three straight to Tampa Bay.

Jones' solo blast in the sixth handed New York a 5-1 advantage.

Ivan Nova (1-0) earned the victory despite surrendering 10 hits in seven frames. The right-hander didn't issue a walk, however, and struck out seven batters.

Baltimore starter Brian Matusz (0-1) lasted only four-plus innings, allowing four runs on six hits.

Matt Wieters also went 4-for-4 with a solo homer for the Orioles, who fell for the first time after opening the season with three straight victories over Minnesota.
