MONTREAL, April 7 (UPI) -- Rookie Andrew Wenger scored in the 81st minute Saturday to give Montreal a two-goal lead and the Impact held on to win for the first time -- 2-1 over Toronto.
Montreal had gone 0-4-1 in its first five games of its opening MLS season, but finally broke through with a revamped lineup.
Sinisa Ubiparipovic, playing for the first time this year, scored in the 18th minute and Wenger added what turned out to be the game-winning score in the late going.
Danny Koevermans tallied for Toronto in the 88th minute.
Toronto played shorthanded for much of the second half when Logan Emory was given a direct red card for slamming into Sanna Nyassi to prevent a scoring opportunity.
Toronto (0-4-0) is the only team in MLS without a win.
