NBA: Utah 102, Portland 97

PORTLAND, Ore., April 3 (UPI) -- Paul Millsap poured in 31 points on 14-for-20 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds Monday, propelling the Utah Jazz to a 102-97 victory over Portland.

Millsap's slam dunk with 20 second remaining put the Jazz ahead for good and Utah broke a three-game losing streak to keep pace in the race for the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot.

Utah stayed one game behind Houston in the conference standings after the Rockets' defeat of Chicago Monday.

Gordon Hayward provided 20 points and Al Jefferson chipped in with 13 points and 10 boards for the Jazz.

Portland's playoff hopes took a hit, with the Trail Blazers falling four games behind the Rockets for the eighth seed. Wesley Matthews scored 33 and LaMarcus Aldridge had 27 for Portland.
