Bayless tears oblique, out for year

TORONTO, March 27 (UPI) -- Toronto Raptors point guard Jerryd Bayless will likely miss the rest of the season with a partially torn left oblique muscle, the team revealed Tuesday.

Bayless left in the second quarter of the Raptors' loss to the Orlando Magic Monday and didn't re-enter the game.

He had just returned to the lineup after missing the previous two contests with a hip pointer.

In his first full season with the Raptors, Bayless had a hot stretch this month during which he started five straight contests and averaged 21.8 points a game.

Overall this season, the 23-year-old has averaged 11.4 points and 3.8 assists per outing.
