MLS: Chicago 1, Philadelphia 0

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., March 24 (UPI) -- Dominic Oduro scored in the 28th minute Saturday and Chicago held on to post a 1-0 win over Philadelphia in the Fire's home opener.

The Fire (1-0-1) were rewarded with a goal while dominating the first half with nine shots.

Marco Pappa nimbly dribbled up the right sideline and found Oduro with a pass that the Ghanian forward headed home for the contest's only tally.

Oduro nearly scored again in the 40th minute but Union defender Chris Albright cleared the ball off the line.

The Union (0-3-0) came close to evening the score in the 82nd minute when a free kick by Gabriel Gomez was knocked away by Chicago goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi.
