CHESTER, Pa., March 18 (UPI) -- Tony Cascio scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 62nd minute Sunday and the Colorado Rapids opened their season with a 2-1 victory over Philadelphia.
After Jaime Castrillon put the Rapids up 1-0 in the 56th minute, Cascio doubled the lead 6 minutes later when he stole the ball from defender Chris Albright, dribbled into the area and beat Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

The Rapids (1-0-0) won despite playing with only 10 men after a red card was issued to Jeff Larentowicz for a hard foul.
The Union (0-2-0) remained winless on the young season despite a second-half goal from Lionard Pajoy.
The Colombian striker had another good look at the net in the 89th minute but couldn't land the shot.
