NBA: Utah 99, Charlotte 93

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 7 (UPI) -- Al Jefferson scored 31 points Wednesday and helped Utah fight off a late charge in downing Charlotte 99-93.

Utah prevented the Bobcats from putting together what would have been their first two-game winning streak of the season.

Charlotte staged a huge comeback Tuesday to defeat Orlando and win for just the fifth time this season. The Bobcats tried to duplicate that effort against the Jazz, but their 20-point deficit in the third period was too much to overcome.

The final margin was as close as Charlotte could come in during the final 20 minutes.

Paul Millsap contributed 16 points for the Jazz, who climbed back to the .500 mark with their second straight win.

Corey Maggette scored 25 points for Charlotte and Kemba Walker had 19.
