NHL: Washington 4, Florida 0

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin scored twice Tuesday and the Washington Capitals grabbed first place in the Southeast Division with a 4-0 blanking of Florida.

Ovechkin logged his first points since returning from a three-game suspension Saturday and Tomas Vokoun made 42 saves for his fourth shutout this season in Washington's win.

Jason Chimera and Mathieu Perreault also found the net as the Capitals leapfrogged the Panthers into the divisional top spot despite going just 3-3-2 in their last eight contests.

Scott Clemmensen was beaten for four goals on 24 shots as slumping Florida went down to its ninth loss in 13 games.
