CHICAGO, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose, who sprained his left big toe this week, returned to action Friday to score 25 points against the Boston Celtics.

Coach Tom Thibodeau had said earlier in the day that Rose, who missed Wednesday's game, participated in portions of Friday morning's shoot-around and a decision on whether he would play would be made at game time, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"He's feeling a lot better," Thibodeau said.

The reigning MVP of the NBA missed Chicago's previous game with a toe injury but he played through discomfort Friday while making 9-of-21 shots from the field.

The Bulls beat the Celtics 8-79 for their fourth straight win and their NBA-best 11th victory of the season.
