LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A federal bankruptcy judge has approved a settlement between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Fox Sports, clearing the way for the team's sale, MLB.com reported.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Gross ruled Wednesday on the matter in Delaware, the sports news Web site said.

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt agreed to sell the team in November, less than a month after winning control in a divorce settlement. Major League Baseball and the Dodgers agreed to have the court monitor the team's sale to maximum its value.

However, the MLB.com report said Fox sued, contending that auctioning off the team's media rights would unfairly benefit McCourt.

Under the settlement, Fox withdrew its lawsuit and the Dodgers agreed to honor the existing contract with the network that runs through next year, MLB.com said.
