NBA: Utah 94, Memphis 85

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Al Jefferson's layup concluded a nine-point surge in the fourth quarter Friday that lifted the Utah Jazz past Memphis 94-85.

The score was tied at 69-69 3 minutes deep into the final period when Utah put together its key outburst. The Grizzlies came no closer than four points the rest of the way.

Jefferson led the Jazz with 20 points, Paul Millsap had 14 and Josh Howard added 13. Howard was part of a 41-point effort from the Utah bench.

Utah has won three in a row and is unbeaten in its four home games this season. Memphis had captured its previous two games.

The Grizzlies were paced by 21 points and 11 rebounds from Marc Gasol. Utah made 50 percent of its shots and forced 19 Memphis turnovers.
