Federer cruises at Paris; Tsonga wins epic

PARIS, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Roger Federer and sixth-seeded Jo-Wilfred Tsonga won their semifinal matches Saturday to advance to the finals of the Paris Masters.

Federer beat No. 5 seed Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-3 for his 801st career victory and moved on to his 99th career finals match.

Federer broke Berdych to love in the final game and hit 34 winners. He committed 13 unforced errors to Berdych's 20.

"I didn't give Tomas much," said Federer. "I was able to play aggressive and serve good, so it was overall a wonderful performance."

Tsonga advanced with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-3) win over John Isner in a match that lasted just under 3 hours. Tsonga rallied in the third set by saving three match points.
