NHL: Minnesota 1, Detroit 0

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Josh Harding turned aside all 36 shots he faced Saturday, earning his fifth career shutout in the Minnesota Wild's 1-0 win over Detroit.

Harding, getting a start in place of regular goalie Niklas Backstrom, was spectacular in net, weathering a 4-minute Detroit power play midway through the third period en route to his first shutout since 2009-10.

The netminder made 16 stops in the second period as the Wild took the first in a home-and-series with the struggling Red Wings, who dropped their fourth straight contest.

Dany Heatley's first-period goal accounted for the game's only score as Minnesota won for the first time in eight meetings with Detroit.

Jimmy Howard turned aside 19-of-20 shots for the Red Wings.
