MLS: Chicago 2, D.C. United 1

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Diego Chaves scored in the 5th minute of second-half stoppage time Saturday, bringing Chicago a dramatic 2-1 victory over D.C. United.

A loss would have eliminated Chicago from playoff contention and the Fire fell behind in the 90th minute. They then scored two goals in the closing moments to move within three points of New York for the final post-season berth in MLS.

United still clings to a slight post-season hope, but must win both its remaining games and have help elsewhere to make it.

Dwayne De Rosario put United in front in the 90th minute by converting a penalty shot created when Gonzalo Segares fouled Santino Quaranta.

Sebastian Grazzini tied it less than 2 minutes later by firing a shot from outside the box into the top left corner. Segares assisted on the goal.

Segares assisted again when Chaves scored the game-winning goal from point-blank range.
