Ex-NBA player Miles faces weapons charge

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Former NBA player Darius Miles is out on bail after being charged with attempting to carry a loaded gun onto an airplane in Missouri.

Miles was arrested Aug. 3 at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport after a handgun was found in his carry-on bag, and a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon was filed Sept. 30. Court records show the 29-year-old former pro basketball player posted 10 percent of his $15,000 bond Monday and has a Nov. 17 court date in St. Louis.

Miles last played for Memphis in 2009 at the end of an NBA career that also included stops with the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland and Portland. He averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 446 NBA games.
