MLB: Houston 2, Pittsburgh 0

HOUSTON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- J.A. Happ teamed with two relievers on a four-hitter Wednesday that lifted the Houston Astros to a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh.

The Astros completed a three-game sweep of the Pirates, only the second time this season Houston has swept a series. The Astros swept the Chicago Cubs in a series that ended June 1.

Happ (5-15) allowed three hits and struck out six over seven innings. Fernando Rodriguez worked the eighth and Mark Melancon came on the ninth for his 16th save.

Both Houston runs came in the sixth inning, during which the Astros hit only one ball out of the infield.

Jimmy Paredes walked against James McDonald (8-7) to open the inning and went to third on a single by Angel Sanchez.

With Sanchez breaking for second on the pitch, Humberto Quintero hit a grounder back to the pitcher. Paredes scored from third and Sanchez went all the way to third while McDonald was throwing Quintero out at first.

After Happ drew a walk, Jordan Schafer put down a bunt that he beat out for an RBI single.
