NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who left Ohio State two months ago, was taken by the Oakland Raiders in the third round in Monday's NFL supplemental draft.

The Raiders took Pryor with the 18th pick of the round, meaning they will forfeit their third-round selection in the 2012 regular draft.

Pryor worked out before representatives of several teams Saturday, a day after the NFL ruled he was eligible for the supplemental draft. However, the league also said Pryor would have to sit out the first five games of the season, matching sanctions he had been given on the collegiate level.

The quarterback left Ohio State after allegedy receiving improper benefits for selling memorabilia. The scandal cost Buckeyes Coach Jim Tressel his job.

In three seasons at Ohio State, Pryor passed for 2,772 yards and 27 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He rushed for 754 yards and four touchdowns.

Oakland is operating with three quarterbacks -- Jason Campbell, Trent Edwards and Kyle Boller -- on its depth chart. They are a combined 37-of-60 (61.7 percent) for 414 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in two pre-season games.
