MLB: Chicago Cubs 5, St. Louis 4 (10 inn.)

CHICAGO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Tyler Colvin singled in Geovany Soto with one out in the 10th inning Friday, giving the Chicago Cubs a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Soto led off the Chicago 10th with a single and advanced to second on Marlon Byrd's sacrifice bunt. Colvin then lined a single into center, driving in Soto and handling the loss to Octavio Dotel (2-3).

Shaun Marshall (6-5) got the win with one inning of relief as the Cubs' bullpen allowed one hit over three innings.

Chicago starter Randy Wells allowed four runs in seven innings but the Cardinals managed just one hit -- an eighth-inning single -- after David Freese hit a fourth-inning home run that made the score 4-1.

St. Louis took a 3-0 lead in the second with Yadier Molina hitting his ninth home run of the year for two runs and Jaime Garcia singling in the other. Aramis Ramirez had an RBI single for the Cubs in the third but Freese got that run back with his eighth homer of the year.

Darwin Barney had a home run in the fifth for Chicago and he and Blake DeWitt had back-to-back triples in the seventh. The Cubs tied the score 4-4 with an RBI double from Soto in the eighth.
