MLB: Milwaukee 2, Los Angeles Dodgers 1

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Mark Kotsay delivered a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Prince Fielder coaxed a leadoff walk from Hong-Chih Kuo (0-2) in the ninth. Mike MacDougal relieved for the Dodgers and Casey McGehee greeted him with a single.

Yuniesky Betancourt then drew a walk to load the bases and Kotsay, pinch-hitting for Jerry Hairston Jr., sent a sharp single into center field, plating Fielder to secure the Brewers' 18th win in 20 games.

Corey Hart added an RBI for Milwaukee, which extended its lead over second-place St. Louis to seven games in the National League Central.

The ninth-inning rally made a winner of Takashi Saito (4-1), who pitched a perfect ninth. Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo allowed only one run on four hits over eight innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings.
