ATLANTA, July 23 (UPI) -- Mardy Fish moved into the semifinals at the Atlanta Tennis Championships Friday with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Somdev Devvarman.

Fish, the top seed in this event and ranked ninth in the world, moved closer to what would be his first tournament title of the year. He has lost in all three of his semifinal appearances, including a setback to current world No. 1 Novak Djokovic at the Sony Ericsson Open.

No. 3 seed John Isner reached the semifinals by defeating Yen-Hsun Lu 6-1, 6-2 in just 56 minutes. His opponent will be Gilles Muller, who defeated second-seeded Kevin Anderson 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3).

This is only the third ATP Tour event of the year for Muller, who has battled back from an early-season knee injury. It will be his first semifinal match at the ATP level since 2005.
