ATLANTA, July 20 (UPI) -- Third-seeded John Isner outlasted fellow-American James Blake Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Atlanta Tennis Championships.
Isner emerged with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (3-7), 7-5 victory that will send him against Yen-Hsun Lu in the quarterfinals. Lu rallied to defeat qualifier Marinko Matosevic 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 2 seed Kevin Anderson also advanced by downing Robby Ginepri 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 6-2.
Mardy Fish, seeded No. 1 and making his first appearance since reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, will play a second-round match Thursday against Nicolas Mahut.
