MLB: New York Mets 5, LA Dodgers 2

LOS ANGELES, July 5 (UPI) -- Daniel Murphy's sixth-inning RBI double put New York ahead Monday and the Mets went on to post a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trailing 2-0 entering the sixth, the Mets erupted for three runs. Angel Pagan and Carlos Beltran each hit run-scoring doubles to tie the contest, and Murphy followed with his own two-bagger, scoring Beltran with the go-ahead tally.

Chris Capuano (8-7) earned the victory -- his sixth in seven starts for the Mets. The left-hander allowed two runs on six hits over six innings, walking two and striking out five.

Bobby Parnell contributed two scoreless relief innings and Francisco Rodriguez got his 21st save as New York won the first contest of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Rubby De La Rosa (3-4) was tagged with the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits in a seven-inning effort.

James Loney drove in both runs for the Dodgers, who dropped their third straight.
