Bautista heads All-Star Game starters

NEW YORK, July 3 (UPI) -- Top vote-getter Jose Bautista of Toronto and National League No. 1 Ryan Braun of Milwaukee headed the list of All-Star Game starters released Sunday.

Blue Jays outfielder Bautista, who garnered 7,454,753 votes from fans, easily broke Ken Griffey Jr.'s record of 6,069,688 votes set in 1994.

He will start in the American League outfield along with Curtis Granderson of the Yankees and Josh Hamilton of Texas with Boston's David Ortiz selected as the designed hitter.

Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Lance Berkman of St. Louis will join Braun in the National League outfield.

The NL infield starters include Atlanta catcher Brian McCann, Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder, teammate Rickie Weeks at second base, New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes and Philadelphia third baseman Placido Polanco.

Detroit catcher Alex Avila, Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez of the Yankees will comprise the AL infield.

Phillies starters Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels top the NL pitching staff, while reigning AL Cy Young award winner Felix Hernandez of Seattle heads the AL pitching staff.
