MLB: Cincinnati 4, Tampa Bay 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 29 (UPI) -- Ryan Hanigan's three-run homer Wednesday propelled the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 interleague win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Edinson Volquez (5-3) got his first victory since June 7, holding the Rays to three runs on four hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out seven.

B.J. Upton hit a solo home run and Evan Longoria drove in two runs for the Rays.

James Shields (8-5) gave up all four Reds runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out 10 but saw his streak of three straight complete games come to an end. He also struck out 10 and walked two.
