MLS: New York 1, Chicago 1 (tie)

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., June 26 (UPI) -- Marco Pappa scored in the 58th minute Sunday, boosting the Chicago Fire into a 1-1 tie with Red Bull New York.

Pappa got control of the ball outside the area and fired a shot from 25 yards out that bounced on the edge of the six-yard box and over netminder Bouna Coundoul for the go-ahead tally.

Chicago (2-4-11) extended its unbeaten streak to seven straight with six consecutive draws under interim coach Frank Klopas.

Red Bull New York (5-3-9) got its goal from Joel Lindpere in the 40th minute.

New York has just one victory in its last 10 league games but is still just two points out of first in the Eastern Conference.
