MLB: Minnesota 9, San Francisco 2

SAN FRANCISCO, June 22 (UPI) -- Carl Pavano pitched eight strong innings and Minnesota scored eight runs in the first inning before cruising to a 9-2 win over San Francisco Tuesday.

Pavano (5-5) gave up two runs on nine hits and kept the Giants off the scoreboard until the seventh.

The win extended Minnesota's winning streak to eight games.

Alexi Casilla had a solo home run for the Twins. Luke Hughes and Ben Revere drove in two runs apiece.

Aubrey Huff had two hits and Eli Whiteside added a solo home run for the Giants, who fell for the fifth consecutive time.

Giants starter Madison Baumgartner (3-9) took the loss after failing to make it through the first inning. Baumgartner's line included eight runs on nine hits in 1/3 of an inning.
