MLB: Detroit 7, Los Angeles Dodgers 5

LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera and Magglio Ordonez each bashed two-run homers Wednesday and the Detroit Tigers hung on to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-5.

After spotting the Dodgers an early 2-1 lead, the Tigers went ahead to stay in the second inning when Victor Martinez led off with a walk and Ordonez followed with a blast to left-center.

Detroit made it 5-2 in the next frame when Cabrera went deep with Brennan Boesch aboard.

Casper Wells and Don Kelly added solo shots for the Tigers, who salvaged one win of a three-game interleague series at Dodger Stadium.

Tigers starter Rick Porcello lasted only 4 2/3 innings, yielding five runs. The victory instead went to Al Alburquerque (4-1), who tossed 2 1/3 frame of scoreless relief.

Jose Valverde barely escaped with his 17th save after Austin Jackson made a running, over-the-shoulder catch off the bat of Dioner Navarro with two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth.

Los Angeles starter Ted Lilly (5-7) absorbed the loss, surrendering six runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.

James Loney went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles and Matt Kemp added three hits and a run batted in for the Dodgers.
