The Dodgers left-hander yielded only a third-inning double to Ryan Raburn and a Casper Wells single in the fourth, issuing only one walk in the 112-pitch gem, his third career shutout.

He drove in a pair of runs in the eighth to give Los Angeles its final margin of victory as the Dodgers won their second straight after snapping a five-game skid and took the first of a three-game interleague series with the Tigers.

Juan Uribe hit a solo homer and James Loney went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Dodgers.

Brad Penny (5-6) allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings for Detroit.
