Bartoli outlasts Kvitova at Eastbourne

EASTBOURNE, England, June 18 (UPI) -- Marion Bartoli of France won the title at the Eastbourne tournament in a final grass-court tuneup before Wimbledon.

The sixth-seeded Bartoli bested Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, completing a solid run on the turf that included only one set loss prior to Saturday and culminated with her first tour win of the season.

Bartoli had little difficulty beating Samantha Stosur in their semifinal match earlier in the day. The semis were rained out on Friday.

The fifth-seeded Kvitova was leading Daniela Hantuchova 7-6 (11-9), 4-2 when the Slovak retired in their semifinal match.
