Report: Shaq quizzed over man's kidnapping

LOS ANGELES, June 14 (UPI) -- Police have queried former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal about his alleged involvement in a gangland kidnapping, the Web site TMZ.com reported Tuesday.

The entertainment industry news Web site, citing unnamed sources, said Los Angeles police detectives have questioned O'Neal about a 2008 incident in which seven alleged gang members kidnapped, beat up and robbed Robert Ross, a one-time business partner of the basketball player.

Police reports indicate alleged gang Los Angeles gang member Ladell Rowles and six other men abducted Ross at a Sunset Strip convenience store and drove him to Rowles' house where they demanded he turn over tapes of O'Neal having sex with women other than his then-wife Shaunie.

TMZ.com reported the men are under arrest on charges of robbery, kidnapping and other crimes. Ross reportedly told police O'Neal used his home for extramarital affairs and that they were filmed by a hidden security camera he had installed.

O'Neal was interviewed by police about the incident but is not considered a suspect, sources told the Web site.

The former player didn't respond to a call for comment, the Web site said.
