MLB: Pittsburgh 3, New York Mets 1

PITTSBURGH, June 13 (UPI) -- Paul Maholm hurled seven shutout innings and Neil Walker drove in two runs Monday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 3-1 victory over the New York Mets.

Maholm (3-7) baffled the Mets on three hits and two walks. He carded four strikeouts while extending his scoreless innings streak to 13 over two starts.

The left-hander has allowed three earned runs or less in 11 of his 14 starts for the Pirates, who earned a split in their four-game series with the Mets.

Joel Hanrahan picked up his 17th save while Walker provided the bulk of Pittsburgh's offense with a run-scoring single in the first inning single and a bases-loaded walk in the eighth.

Mike Pelfrey (3-5) took the loss for New York despite yielding only two runs on four hits over seven frames.

Jose Reyes drove in the Mets' only run with a sacrifice fly.
