PITTSBURGH, June 10 (UPI) -- Justin Turner's two-run single keyed a five-run fourth inning Friday that sent the New York Mets coasting to an 8-1 win over Pittsburgh.
New York won for the fourth time in five games and climbed within one game of .500. The Mets have not had a winning record since they were 3-2 on April 6.
It was a 1-1 game heading into the fourth, but New York batted around in that inning with all five runs being charged to Charlie Morton (6-3).
Angel Pagan doubled to open the frame and scored on a single by Lucas Duda. Josh Thole delivered an RBI single later in the inning and Turner's bases-loaded single brought home the third and fourth runs.
Carlos Beltran completed the scoring in the fourth with a sacrifice fly.
Given the big lead, Dillon Gee had no trouble remaining unbeaten while turning in an eight-inning effort.
Gee (7-0) allowed a run on eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks. He won his fifth straight start.
Thole and Jose Reyes both had three hits in a 13-hit New York attack.
