MLB: Washington 2, San Diego 1

SAN DIEGO, June 12 (UPI) -- John Lannan limited the Padres to one run over 6 1/3 innings Saturday and the Washington Nationals posted a 2-1 win over San Diego.

Lannan (4-5) turned in his fourth straight strong start for the Nationals, a span during which he has allowed only two earned runs over 26 1/3 frames.

The left-hander surrendered six hits, walked two and struck out one as Washington logged its second straight victory over San Diego by a 2-1 score.

Nationals relievers Todd Coffey and Tyler Clippard combined for 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Drew Storen notched his 14th save.

Washington scored both of its runs in the first inning on RBIs from Danny Espinoza and Wilson Ramos.

Clayton Richard (2-8) absorbed his third straight loss, giving up two runs on five hits in a seven-inning effort for the Padres.

Rookie Anthony Rizzo, acquired by San Diego in the off-season trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez to Boston, hit his first major league homer to supply the Padres' only run.
