NBA: Miami 88, Dallas 86

DALLAS, June 5 (UPI) -- Dwyane Wade scored 29 points to go with 11 rebounds Sunday and the Miami Heat hung on to defeat Dallas 88-86, taking a 2-1 lead in the NBA finals.

Wade scored all eight of Miami's points during a 4 1/2-minute stretch late in the fourth quarter to keep the Heat in the lead and Chris Bosh (18 points) connected on a 16-footer with 39 seconds left to provide the margin of victory.

LeBron James, who finished with 17 points and nine assists, missed a 3-point attempt with 5 seconds left, giving Dallas one last chance to tie or win the game.

But Dirk Nowitzki missed a fall-away jumper at the buzzer, handing the Heat a road victory and the advantage heading into Tuesday's Game 4.

Nowitzki led all scorers with 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, who shot only 40 percent from the floor.

Jason Kidd dished off 10 assists but was held to 3-of-8 from the field for nine points for Dallas.
