MLB: San Diego 6, Houston 3

SAN DIEGO, June 5 (UPI) -- Alberto Gonzalez triggered a three-run, eighth-inning rally with an RBI single Saturday, helping the San Diego Padres down Houston 6-3.

With the score knotted 3-3, the Padres put runners on first and second with two outs. Gonzalez then singled to center filed, scoring Ryan Ludwick, while Brad Hawpe took third and Gonzalez went to second on the throw home.

Rob Johnson followed with a looping hit to left that scored two more, and the Padres hung on to win for the second time in a four-game series against the Astros.

The late rally made a winner of Aaron Harang (6-2), who logged his first victory since May 8. The right-hander limited Houston to two runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings, walking two and fanning three.

Three relievers combined for 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Heath Bell logged his 16th save for San Diego.

Houston's Aneury Rodriguez (0-3) was the losing pitcher, surrendering three runs on five hits in a six-inning start.

Clint Barmes hit a solo homer and Michael Bourn added an RBI for the Astros.
