MLS: New York 1, Columbus 1 (tie)

HARRISON, N.J., June 4 (UPI) -- Rich Balchan found the net in the 92nd minute Saturday, lifting the Columbus Crew into a 1-1 tie with the New York Red Bulls.

Justin Meram escaped rookie New York defender Matt Kassel and sent a cross through the penalty area on the ground to Balchan, who converted it into a goal and a standings point for the Crew (3-3-6).

Midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy scored the game's first goal in the 9th minute for New York (4-2-7), collecting a through-ball from New York striker Luke Rodgers and easily slotting it home with a right-footed shot.

The Red Bulls' draw was their fifth in the last six games, while Columbus saw its winless streak stretch to five.
