PORTLAND, Ore., May 22 (UPI) -- Eric Brunner's tally in the 46th minute Saturday helped the Portland Timbers stay unbeaten at home with a 1-0 decision over Columbus.
Brunner headed home his first goal of the season when Kalif Alhassan got the ball in the penalty area off a free kick and crossed it to the Timbers defenseman.

The win enabled expansion Portland (5-3-2) to improve to 5-0-0 at home in its first MLS season.
Columbus, meanwhile, fell into a tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 3-3-4 mark.
