Kyle Farnsworth gained his 11th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Rays scored all their runs in the second on Johnny Damon's RBI double and a two-run single from Ben Zobrist.

Doug Fister (3-6) absorbed the loss for Seattle, yielding three runs on seven hits in a seven-inning start.

Miguel Olivo's two-run homer in the eighth pulled the Mariners to within a run but they could get no closer.
