CASARES, Spain, May 21 (UPI) -- Ian Poulter birdied the 17th hole Saturday and bumped top-ranked Lee Westwood from the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain.

Poulter joined Luke Donald in advancing in Saturday's quarterfinals at Costa del Sol, which will host the semifinals Saturday and the finals Sunday.

Westwood won back-to-back holes on the back nine to tie the match; however, Poulter, ranked 22nd in the world, chipped on to the green on 17 and dropped in the decisive putt for a 1-hole victory.

Donald needed 19 holes to bump Johan Edfors Saturday. He trailed by two holes with three to play and won three of the final four.

Donald will face Charl Schwartzel in the semifinals.
