MLS: Philadelphia 2, Chicago 1

CHESTER, Pa., May 21 (UPI) -- Carlos Ruiz scored on a long half-volley in the 75th minute Saturday, lifting the Philadelphia Union to a 2-1 decision over Chicago.

Ruiz collected the deflection of a free kick, settled the ball and then booted a looping, 35-yard half-volley over Fire goalie Jon Conway and just under the crossbar for his third goal of the season.

Michael Farfan also found the net in the second half for the Union (5-3-2), which snapped a three-game winless streak.

The Fire (1-4-5) knotted the score 1-1 in the 68th minute when Dominic Oduro got past a defender and beat Faryd Mondragon to the near post.
