MLB: Texas 5, Kansas City 4 (11 innings)

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 19 (UPI) -- Adrian Beltre singled in two runs in the 11th Wednesday and the Texas Rangers survived a scare in the bottom half of the inning to down Kansas City 5-4.

Elvis Andrus gave the Rangers a one-run lead in the top of the ninth with an RBI single but Kansas City rookie Eric Hosmer then hit a home run to tie it and force extra innings.

After the Royals left the bases loaded in the 10th, Kansas City reliever Jeremy Jeffress (1-1) filled the bases on walks with one out in the 11th. Beltre delivered his two-run single and Mark Lowe came on in the bottom half of the 11th to protect the lead.

Lowe gave up a run on a two-out single by Brayan Pena, but then struck out Chris Getz looking to end the game. It was Lowe's first save and protected the win for Arthur Rhodes (2-2), who recorded the final two outs in the 10th after the Royals had filled the bases.

Kansas City has lost five in a row and the Rangers have won five out of seven.
