MLS: Vancouver 1, San Jose 1 (tie)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 12 (UPI) -- Davide Chiumiento scored in second-half stoppage time Wednesday, allowing the Vancouver FC Whitecaps to escape with a 1-1 tie against San Jose.

Chris Wondolowski's fourth goal of the season gave the Earthquakes the lead in the 39th minute, but Chiumiento produced an unlikely tally to bring the home team a point.

San Jose and Vancouver have combined for just two victories in 18 games this season.

Chiumiento sent a curling shot into the penalty area from the right wing and the ball eluded San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch as it drifted across the face of the goalmouth and slipped just inside the left post.

San Jose (1-4-3) has just one point in its last four games. Vancouver fell to 1-4-5, although it has only one loss in six home games this season.
